Encoder Repairs

All encoders produced by the Industrial Encoder Division are backed by our two-year warranty.  If anything goes wrong, give us a call at 800-350-2727.  Our trained service personnel can often troubleshoot a problem over the phone and determine if your encoder needs to be sent in for repair.  They will perform a thorough evaluation and recommend a course of action.  We maintain an encoder repair facility at our manufacturing facility to ensure that all encoder repairs are brought up to the original encoder performance standards.  In emergency situations an evaluation and repair can be underway within minutes after the encoder is received at our dock.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

"Do I need authorization to return units in need of repair?"

No, RMA numbers are not required to return your unit for evaluation or repair.  Simply include the repair approval contact person’s name and phone number on your shipping paperwork.

"What is the turnaround time for repairs?"

Two weeks from the time you give your approval.

"Can you repair it faster than two weeks?"

Yes, our standard lead time is a “maximum” of two weeks.  We generally average about 4 business days on electrical repairs and 6-7 days on mechanical repairs.  We also offer a paid expedite service that will guarantee a ship date (subject to material availability).

"How soon will you have my unit evaluated once you receive it?"

Generally we evaluate within one business day of receipt.  Units that need a “RUSH” evaluation will be looked at within 1 hour of receipt.

"I need a price before I can send the units back."

It can be difficult to estimate a price before the unit has been evaluated, however we do not charge for evaluation if you deem the repair as being too costly.  This way you lose nothing by sending it in for evaluation.  Once the unit has been evaluated, we will contact you with a firm repair price.

"What happens if you don't find anything wrong with the unit?"

If we find no failures during our normal testing procedure, we will contact you to find out more specifics about the failure you were witnessing.  Our engineering and application specialists are also available to help troubleshoot technical issues.

"What is the warranty period for repair?"

Repair warranty is 90 days on parts and labor replaced.  If the unit is under warranty then your warranty period continues.  BEI stands firmly behind its encoder products and motion control systems.  Defects in workmanship and product quality will always be taken care of at no charge.
