Environmentally Sealed Optical Encoders
Through the use of a magnetic shaft coupling connection, Model ES is completely sealed with an IP67 environmental rating. This coupling connection allows the encoder to be isolated from high shock and vibration, dust tight, and impervious to debris or liquid in the environment. Model ES encoders can even operate while fully immersed in one meter of water for up to 30 minutes. Since the Model ES is not physically coupled to external equipment, it is much more tolerant of shaft misalignment, meaning no more broken couplings! Ideal for applications with heavy wash-downs, temporary water immersions, and excessive environmental debris.

This specifically configured DrawWorks Model HS35 encoder combines rugged, heavy-duty features into a unique through-shaft style for use as a winch-turns counter in the DrawWorks system of oil rigs. It is supplied with a standard 1" - 14 diameter threaded connection and a convertible adapter that allows its use in systems with a 5/8" - 18 threaded connection.

	The dual output drawworks HS35 encoder can supply simultaneous position feedback to two separate systems from a single encoder. Since the connectors are mechanically parallel and electrically isolated, connecting to a second system and routing the cable is straightforward. Additionally, the outputs can even have different resolutions with use of interpolation. Now you can save the cost and space of a second encoder with a single installation.

Shock Proof encoders are ultra heavy duty encoders whose internal structure is totally isolated from severe shock and shaft loading conditions. Optics and electronics are supported in shock absorbing material within the heavy cast outer housing. The encoder shaft is flexibly coupled to the high load capacity bearings and shaft assembly, which is carried in the outer housing.

Explosion Proof encoders are contained in an enclosure that can withstand an internal explosion of the most volatile gas-to-air mixture that can penetrate into the interior of the enclosure. The encoder's enclosure contains the explosion without damage and without allowing the flame to leave the enclosure through any joints or other openings. These encoders are ideal for use in petroleum services industries, solvent refining operations, spray painting applications, and explosive dust environments.

Extended Temperature Testing of Encoders
If your application requires encoders to be exposed to extreme temperatures, extended temperature testing is available for many BEI encoder models. All BEI encoders have a standard operating range of 0 to +70 degrees Celsius. Ordering your encoder with an extended temperature test ensures it will operate from as low as -55 degrees Celsius to as high as +105 degrees Celsius.
